Pan-Slavism and Congo-Brazzaville

Update: Two new articles posted at Suite101.com.

Article 1: The History of Congo-Brazzaville.

Whether you are writing a paper about the history of Congo-Brazzaville, French colonialism or European imperialism in Africa, this is a good start. A very general overview of the history of French Congo, with a focus on more recent events: namely the influence of Communism and the Congo-Brazzaville Civil War, culminating with where the country is headed in the future.

Article 2: A Short History of Pan-Slavism

This is something everyone should read, whether doing a paper or just looking for interesting trivia. The history of the Pan-Slavic movement in Eastern Europe is as bizarre as it is fascinating. While trying to unify the Slavs, this little-known movement played a role in starting World War I, and continues today in a very weird form of an ethnic superiority complex. Interesting stuff.

I've also just started another blog over at Wordpress. Content there will be slightly different than here. One of these will become primarily a personal blog talking about my experiences in building a career out of history, the other will be to promote new writing more heavily.

Suite101.com

I recently (about a month ago) got a position at Suite101.com writing articles. It's a pretty good gig. I write about what I want, so long as it fits their format, and I get a share of the ad revenue. It's good exposure and so far it's been pretty successful. Much more successful than this blog! I'm going to put more effort into this blog, including revamping it to look more professional and help coordinate a sort of marketing circle for my writing.

So, things will be changing soon!
