Two new articles.

One compares and contrasts Athens and Sparta and is a must read for anyone working on a paper or wanting to know some general information about the two.

The other is about Charlemagne and how he saved the Catholic Church and created the first French Empire.

Russia Invades Georgia, What Can We Do?

Russia's invasion of Georgia is all over the news now. But what can the world do about it? President George Bush is taking it to the UN, but the most that will come out of that is a toothless resolution that means nothing. Things certainly don't look good, read about what the options are and what is likely to happen!

"Obama's Foreign Policy Flip-Flop," America's Invasion of Haiti

A whole slew of new articles just published thanks to Associated Content.

The first, "Obama's Foreign Policy Flip-Flop" is an op-ed piece about Obama stumbling to clarify his foreign policy involving Iraq.

The second is a history of the US Invasion of Haiti in 1915 and a brief history of the occupation. This one is meant to be a complement to this article.

President Buchanan Article

Ever wonder about why the American Civil War happened? There were many reasons, and one of them was President James Buchanan. A terrible, terrible President, he actually helped the nation TOWARD civil war. His ineptitude was shocking, read this article for the whole crazy story!

China and the Olympics

Here it is folks, my newest article. With the Olympic craze going around I thought it would be an excellent time to publish an article about China's attempts to shut down dissent for the Games. Check it out!

"Smedley Butler"!

Brand new article over at Suite101 about the Marine hero Smedley Butler. Learn all about how he earned the Medal of Honor twice, easily defeated Haitian rebels and became a pacifist who revealed an attempt by fascist corporations to overthrow the American government!

Right here!

"McCain Leads Obama" and "Curse of the Dark Knight'

Two new articles for Suite101 that I wrote yesterday.

The Presidential campaign is finally getting interesting, with McCain gaining ground in key areas and Obama might be slipping. His popularity has steadily declined recently and moderates are turning towards McCain, who is finally getting some media coverage. If he plays it smart he can continue to win over moderates and heartland voters, but he still has an uphill battle.

And with the accident that Morgan Freeman was injured in two days ago, the superstitious rumors about a curse following the brand new Batman sequel The Dark Knight.

Funny Comic-Con Clip on the U.S. Presidential Election

I found this through Twitter and found it pretty amusing. We all know that however the geeks and nerds vote, so votes the nation!

A surprising amount of McCain supporters, usually internet dwellers seem to be liberal conspiracy theorists. Although there was one ditsy blonde who switched her vote from McCain to Obama when her friend gave her a mere dirty look. Just saying...

Anyway, check it out. It's a fun minute or two, if only for the ridiculously dressed people discussing politics.

Sending out Magazine Queries

Well, I'm settling in to my internship at the Midland Historical Society and have three (yes, that's three!) interviews starting today. You've got to pay the bills, right? Freelance writing is fun and all, but whoever said you can make a living off of it lied. Some progress has been made. I've added a whole bunch of those random feed websites like Twitter, Delicious, etc. and am hoping they help bump my page views at Associated Content and Suite101. Writing about history can be a curse sometimes, because outside of the school year there isn't enough interest. Apparently you can make a killing writing housekeeping, gardening, and other articles, but history is a bit more of a struggle. It's definitely more fun than writing those other articles, though.

Anyways, let's get straight to the topic. I don't have any articles to link to just yet (Associated Content is currently considering four more of my topics for publication), but I wanted to update with a little off-line news. I'm preparing to send out my very first queries to various historical magazines. I have a killer idea for an article (actually, several) and think I have a shot at getting it published.

That's all for now, I'll be back with links when there are more to give.
